IELTS Task 2 Sample Answer 25 - Should wealthy nations be required to share their wealth among poorer nations by providing such things as food and education? Or is it the responsibility of the governments of poorer nations to look after their citizens themselves?
Many nations have continued to
remain poor since decades which are mainly due to inadequate provision of food
and education. There is a debate regarding the requirement of wealth disbursal
by the prosperous nations in order to cater to the basic needs such as food and
education of the poverty- stricken nations. In my opinion, the support from
wealthy nations is indispensable for the destitute nations as food and
education are the foundational elements essential for the upliftment of any
nation.
One of the major issues faced by most of the underdeveloped nations is poverty which is often the leading cause of high mortality rate. Lacks of knowledge, underutilization of natural resources and inefficiency of the governments of such nations have only worsened this situation in these countries. Inability to satisfy the hunger may force the people of the underdeveloped countries to engage in anti- social activities which would also disturb the peace worldwide. As a solution to this wealthier nations who have surplus monetary resources should contribute a part of their wealth towards the development of poorer nations which can serve as an aid for tackling the problems of starvation.
The second alarming problem in poor nations is the high rate of illiteracy which has hindered their growth. Literacy is a significant factor which is essential for the development of any country. Most of the poorer nations do not have adequate resources for the provision of education because of which criminal activities and spreading of communicable diseases are at its peak. These concerns can be addressed only with the provision of education which can be implemented only with the support of affluent nations.
To conclude, it is the responsibility of every government to look after its citizens. However, in the case of poorer nations, the assistance of rich nations is highly recommended due to the adversities existing in such nations.
